Definitely not "Pro" style! January 2, 2009

I purchased this platform several weeks ago and just now had the opportunity to put it together and install it. As I was putting it together, I became worried about how stable it would be because of the way the platform attaches to the base mount.
You would expect one piece to slide into the other for strong support, but instead they chose to make this unit such that the platform and base mount are held together *only* by two connecting metal plates and 5 bolts, with only a few actually contacting the two pieces of the unit! With this design, no matter how well mounted the base is, it is still possible to tilt the platform up and down *by hand* and it rattles worse than a cheapo that I had when I was a kid. And this is with *moderate* use for testing, not even a full workout.
Like the previous reviewer I also find the "pro" swivel unsatisfactory. First it is kind of narrow, making it difficult to install a medium-sized Everlast Pro bag I had bought for it. Second, it squeaks as if it has been used for years! And this is right out-of-the-box.
It has been too long since I purchased this unit or I would return it and buy one of the Everlast platforms that have much better platform support. I am going to try to reinforce the platform-base connector and buy a new swivel. If that doesn't work it's going up for sale and I'll be forced to buy a new, better unit (which is probably what will end up happening).
My advice: Don't let the words "Pro Style" in this product's name fool you! There are much better platforms selling for the same price or less on amazon that would not exhibit these problems. I am very unhappy with this product, and I would give it 0 stars if I could!

the frame is ok but the swivel is GARBAGE! 2x's it broke and i even ordered a replacement thinking it was defective and it did it again very poor quality now i have to go and buy a whole new swivel mount and replace it! waste of money
